Effectiveness and safety: these two words summarise the philosophy of all our formulations, whether they are patented innovations demonstrating day after day the limitless healing potential of La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water, or skincare products that have become worldwide benchmarks in the field of dermo-cosmetics. Constantly seeking the perfect balance between optimal effectiveness and tolerance results, we formulate all of our skincare products in line with a unique formulation charter.

Constantly renewed feats of formulation

La Roche-Posay Dermatological Laboratory has a twofold ambition: our skincare must be able to effectively meet the needs of people with sensitive skin, while guaranteeing optimal tolerance to remain gentle on all skin types, even sensitive skin. This task would be impossible without "the men and women at La Roche-Posay who, through their commitment and talent, are able to transform every technological challenge into a success", as Muriel Bayer-Vanmoen, International Skincare Development Director, reminds us.

The creation of a skincare product always represents a new challenge that mobilises our teams for almost two years starting from the moment an active ingredient is chosen. Three guiding principles direct their steps at each stage of their work: the strict selection of the raw ingredients, a high concentration of the main active ingredient and a streamlined formulation that is protected by an optimised preservation system. During this design phase, the formula undergoes a draconian series of tolerance tests under normal conditions of use. If, during these tests, the formula's tolerance is not acceptable (in terms of allergies or comfort), our laboratories start the formulation again from scratch.

La Roche-Posay innovation: skincare in a glass jar

Offering a skincare product with a streamlined formulation usually requires using packaging that isolates the product from air, light and the skin. Today, for the first time in its forty years of existence, La Roche-Posay Dermatological Laboratory has successfully performed a feat of formulation that is the result of technological, emotional and sensory expertise:   Nutritic Intense Riche , in depth nutri-reconstituting cream in a glass jar.

Demanding standards on par with the demands of sensitive skin

80 formulation attempts: this is the number of suggested galenic forms that our formulators sometimes require to obtain the desired cosmeticity. But our intransigence does not stop there: a great many of our skincare products must pass the hurdle of clinical studies carried out in collaboration with dermatologists. Thanks to these studies their effectiveness and safety - including on sensitive or problem skin - can be demonstrated.

Last but not least, we strive to offer you an optimal experience of our products by thoroughly working on their textures. From formulating the most enveloping and luscious skincare for dry skin to mattifying gel-creams for oily skin, the La Roche-Posay formulators achieve new formulation feats each time to offer effectiveness, tolerance and comfort on application to all skin types.

Redermic [R], the power of a unique active ingredient in the service of sensitive skin

The perfect example of La Roche-Posay Dermatological Laboratory's uncompromising ability to innovate,   meets the retinol challenge with an optimal corrective dose of retinol that is gradually released for enhanced tolerance.
